New Jersey is the fourteenth position in the United States with the passage of the "New Jersey Compassionate Use of Medical Marijuana Act" to require its legalization. While the name sounds like a gentle law it's actually the toughest version of its kind in America. Several politicians on the east coast are concerned that some loopholes will get out of hand. The loopholes are reportedly there to extend their use where possible, by allowing health officials to add the list of "debilitating medical conditions."

Chris Christie, a former U.S. attorney now elected Governor, is particularly unhappy with what he perceives as the looseness of his language. Christie says California

is an example of a state that has become out-of-control with regard to cannabis for medicinal purposes and does not want to follow suit in his position.

The New Jersey law's stringency lies in its requirement to purchase the substance only via a "alternative treatment center" regulated by the State. It is the only state that requires this route of drug acquisition; all other states allow cultivation in the home.

It has medicinal properties and has been instrumental in the following health conditions:

Why do we need healthcare reform? The answer to that is high costs. Many people are unable to afford health insurance because it is too expensive, and those who have health insurance must pay outrageous prices, and in times of need are often dropped or capped. And why is it that health insurance costs so much? Since healthcare costs so much; many procedures cost tens of thousands of dollars, particularly in long-term conditions and debilitating conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, muscle dystrophy, diabetes and many others. Life-long treatment of these diseases can cost millions, and that is why health insurance is so expensive and difficult to attain.

There is plenty of evidence that special extracts of cannabis can be extremely useful in reforming those disorders. By applying these extracts, we can save billions within the healthcare industry and, more importantly, alleviate the suffering and pain of millions of people. Healthcare reform seems to have concentrated on economics, when in fact, as with many other problems, it is the human cost which is most important. Money can be lost and made again, but once it's gone life can never be regained.
